So I finished the whole 6.X MSQ yesterday...

Nidhogg did go a little overboard with his vengeance we agree on that... but damn i think it kinda sucks that Vritra didn't try to kill Golbez even a little bit after what he did to Azdaja.

I know he's basically a pacifist and tries not to incite violence and it's not fully IC but i kinda wish he took an arm off Golbez or something. That dude got off scot free for all the shit he pulled.

Yes! There's more actually; they were all gifted singers, and even went by the nicknames Do, Re, Mi, Fa, So, La, and Ti. During the Contramemoria, they slowly turned into Sirens, and used their voices to lure others to their doom; after the Flood of Darkness, that was how they continued to survive and grow strong.

During the Allagan Empire, Amon captured them and turned them into something he called the Voidsent Pipe-Organ, which I based on the myth of the Cat Organ (CONTENT WARNING: ANIMAL CRUELTY; thankfully hypothetical).

They remained trapped there for millennia after the Crystal Tower sank. At that time, they were still separate, because the ambient aether of the Source was enough to sustain them.

Turns out in the Black Rose timeline, the Sisters had *still* been in the Tower when Garlond Ironworks began their work, and remained there when it was transported to the First; they'd been mostly ignored because they were a) still trapped in the damn pipe organ and b) not very dangerous anyway. Unfortunately, the Light aether of the First was painful for them and threatened to be overwhelming, so they began to devour each other to protect themselves, renaming themselves Astarael.

When Ryuu was trapped on the First at the same time as Thancred (she got Isekai'd; she's co-WoLs with Kian, who was the one that the Exarch was trying to reach), she sought the power of Darkness in order to protect herself. She found Astarael and made a pact with her. When she returned to the Source, the original Astarael came with her, and her equivalents on the Source chose to merge with her to get out of the tower.

I named Astarael after the seventh bell/Bright Shiner from the Abhorsen series by Garth Nix. In game, I use the wind-up Succubus to represent her; I'd rather use a Siren but there isn't a Siren mini :(

a LOT of Endwalker is the Scions checking in w Chiaki's emotions and Chiaki very grudgingly talking about their feelings. Alphinaud, trying to be helpful, researched therapeutic exercises for identifying and acknowledging your emotions and Chiaki is going to dropkick him straight into the Aetherial Sea

#6: Home

6th Sun of the Sixth Umbral Moon, Year 5 of the 7th Astral Era

It’s the day after our victory over the Endsinger, and we have averted the Final Days. I still can’t believe how much has happened in the past few weeks, let alone in the last few days. We not only traveled into the ancient past, but also to the very edge of the universe, and overcame despair itself. It has been quite the adventure for sure, and if I were to be honest, I would hope that we never have to face anything even remotely close to the threat of the Final Days ever again. I want to live the quiet life for a while, thank you very much.

Well, if I have learned anything from all of this, I do know one thing with absolute certainty: that I had the strength to move forward, to face the greatest of challenges, all because I knew that Aymeric was waiting for me to return victorious, just as he had done so many times before. I realize now that he always believed in me, his faith never shaken, his love never wavered. And neither has mine in turn.

As we landed the Ragnarok in the Old Sharlayan Harbour, I saw everyone stand there, celebrating our victory… and then I saw Aymeric standing there, with the biggest, most brilliant smile on his face. I couldn’t help myself, I jumped down into the water and waded through the water as fast as I could, and jumped into his arms.

In that moment, I knew that I was finally safe, and that I was happier than I could have ever imagined. Yes, in his arms, I was home, at last.

FFXIV fans, who else has played Torment: Tides of Numenera?

In that game, the main character is what's called a Castoff -- what remains behind when a body-hopping immortal swaps bodies. There's actually a LOT of these, and they even try to form their own society, though an entity called the Sorrow hunts them.

We know that while most of the time Ascians just burn out their hosts (Emet Selch) or let them die (most of them tbh?) we also know that some hosts do survive (Thancred). I'm intrigued by this concept for an OC, or even a WoL! Imagine a lesser or sundered Ascian having no idea they'd stolen the body of the Shard of Azem, and possibly being told by Emet Selch point-blank to vacate that *immediately*. Or just a small town of people brought together solely by the fact that they survived something horrible like that, perhaps left with strange powers... (Still mad that Thancred's heterochromia was never followed up on)

6. What are their favorite things to do together?

it's hard to pick just a few! exploring/adventuring/hiking will always be one of their favorite thing to do together. they also love sparring together. but there's more domestic ones like cooking or grooming each other - more specifically shaving/cutting each other's hair and scale care for fornax!

2. If they get married, who proposes, and how do they do it? Would they change their surnames?

they do get married after the events of endwalker! it took a long time because neither of them was hard set on marriage as a concept (or ever thought they would get married), and their souls were already intertwined, which feels like even more of a commitment than a marriage ahahah

but it was fornax who proposed! [ew spoilers after this]

the last events of endwalker were intense for them, generating a lot of fear and anger. fornax "sacrificed" themselves to allow ryss to reach meteion, which ryssrael could not accept. they had an argument before the final fight (meaning meteion here, sorry zenos you've been removed from the fornax x ryss ending), during which ryss went down. it took her days to awake again in sharlayan, days during which fornax worried sick about her, and about her last words to them which had been in anger.

it was when ryssrael awakened, while they both shared a very emotionally charged moment full of relief of being together once more, that fornax shakily took ryssrael's hand and asked her if she would marry them. they did not have a ring at the moment, but it didn't really matter for either of them.

and neither of them changed their surname! we actually thought about it, even came up with a new surname for both of them - the idea being that they're forming something new together, instead of borrowing the other's name. however. roegadyn naming convention have people named after their parents, which mean that two people with the same surname are siblings. the surnames don't change with marriage. so. yeah we're not doing that in the end ahahah

10. Who is more likely to convince the other to come back to sleep in the morning?

fornax for sure! ryss enjoys getting up early, greeting the rising sun and going for some early morning exercise. on the other hand fornax likes to sleep in in the morning, and how could ryss resist when they open their arms and ask her to come back for more sleepy cuddles?
